I am so excited to welcome you to today’s Holiday Vignette feature of the Christmas Festival Blog Tour hosted by Kendra from Joy In Our Home Blog.  Many of you might be joining me from Stacey at Poofing The Pillows Blog – isn’t she darling?  Thank you for following us on this tour!

Do you often think about Christmas Decor and wonder how you can incorporate your every day items into this amazing holiday?  I have come up with 8 fun ways to help you do just that.  At the end of the blog, please share with me your ideas and creative ways of decorating your home for the holidays, I would love to hear from you!

First Tip: Use your chargers

I love DIY chargers and the versatility they bring.  If you don’t use them for your place settings, add them under your tablescape for a simple addition to your decor.

Don’t know how to make them? Cut 12 inch strips of 14 inch wide wood. Sand and stain.  As easy as that!

Second Tip: Add ball ornaments to empty spaces

If you have vases, baskets or lanterns lying around your home – add ball ornaments to fill them up for the Christmas season.  Need to find a chunk for super cheap?  Head to the The Dollar Tree!

Third Tip: Use pinecones

Pinecones aren’t expensive and look perfect with all types of decor styles for the holidays.  You can keep them neutral or spray paint them any color.  Hot glue them to a foam ball, add some ribbon and then place on top of a candle stick – so easy!

Another pinecone DIY idea is to fill them up in a basket and highlight them with ball ornaments and greenery.  The Home Depot sells ones that are laced with cinnamon – your whole house will smell yummy!

Fourth Tip: Hang your ornament with fishing string

I love the look of ball ornaments hanging in mid air.  I use fishing string to make a square knot at different lengths.  You can add these to a chandelier or off of any shelf for a fun holiday twist.

Fifth Tip: BEADS!

String beads add such a fun flair to holiday decor.  They come in so many colors and so many price points.  Lately even wood beads have adorned feeds.  Find decor around your home that needs a little spicing up and lace them over and under.  There is no right or wrong way to add string beads!

Sixth Tip: Flower Sprays

I love adding different colors of flower sprays for each holiday.  If you have vases, mason jars or any other bucket, add new flowers for each season!  I wrap red sprays in burlap for Christmas, pink sprays in ribbon for Easter, and orange sprays in brown twisted paper for Thanksgiving.  The Dollar Tree, Joann Fabrics and Michaels have an amazing selection for very inexpensive.

Seventh Tip:  Use wooden trays

You can decorate wooden trays very easily during the holidays.  Fill it with skulls for Halloween, pumpkins for Thanksgiving, and pine needles for Christmas.  This one I found at our local thrift store and sprayed it with Chalk Paint.  You can read all about it in my tutorial here.

Eighth Tip: Use Ribbon

I love adding a splash of thick ribbon material to my chairs.  I can’t move them out of the room so I might as well add some holiday love to them!  Ribbon brightens up any normal decor you have and turns it into a holiday must have.

I remember when chalk paint started to become a “thing” many years ago, and I just wasn’t buying it.  Was there really a paint that you could use on top of almost anything without sanding or using a primer? I didn’t think it was possible.  Finally I decided to try it on an old table …

I find myself getting giddy when we see old wood somewhere, it just sparks creativity all over me.  Old wood like that on Mr. Farmboys ranch in Montana.  The kind that has sat through every kind of weather, seen years of good use and has lots of memories sunk into its splinters.  It just makes …
