Raised in California and transplanted to Utah. Married my college sweetheart from Montana, and we are raising 4 nuggets together. I love all things DIY projects and doing them on a budget. I don’t mind messing up and am ok with the 90/10 rule - nothing is perfect over here and it’s fine by me! Encouraging all ‘wanna-be’ DIYers to just get out there and try it! I love to DIY everything I can but capturing fruit flies on my own was not happening. I tried the apple cider technique to no avail. And there’s nothing more frustrating than walking into a clean kitchen…and being greeted by a cloud of tiny pests. I needed a simple solution for getting rid of fruit flies this summer.
Here in Utah, we end up getting a ton of fruit flies the second I toss a few bananas on the
counter or set some peaches out to ripen. Suddenly it feels like my kitchen has been invaded.
This year, I decided it was finally time to outsmart the bugs, and I found a solution that I’ve been obsessed with! It’s called the Zevo Flying Insect Trap. I saw them on social media on another page and had to try it.
Even when I keep my kitchen tidy, fruit flies seem to always find a way in. This is because
they’re drawn to ripe fruit, crumbs in hard-to-reach places, and even the moisture near the sink or trash can. And get this—just two fruit flies can become over 500 in one week. EW.
That’s why I needed something that didn’t just mask the problem but actually caught them.
Once I plugged in the Zevo Trap, it started working right away. Its blue and UV light attracts the bugs naturally and it works 24/7—no spraying, swatting, or second-guessing.
After a little trial and error, I found the sweet spots for trapping the most bugs:
Also… the soft blue glow blends right in with my kitchen decor—it almost doubles as a night light, lol!
Yes, I actually saw results! In just 48 hours, the sticky cartridge had trapped more bugs than I expected. I won’t lie—it was oddly satisfying seeing proof that it was actually working. I was seriously blown away to see how many it trapped.
I love that I didn’t have to lift a finger. No smells. No sounds. Just plug it in and let Zevo do its thing.
You can find the Zevo Flying Insect Trap online, at major retailers like Walmart and Target, or even on Amazon. Also my fave thing? They also have refills available! So once the adhesive cartridge is full, you don’t need to buy a whole new trap… you easily just switch the cartridge.
Whether you’re prepping for summer gatherings or just tired of the fruit fly shuffle, this trap is a game-changer.
If you’ve been dealing with fruit flies, gnats, or mystery bugs showing up out of nowhere, I can’t recommend this enough. It’s helped keep our home feeling clean – without adding
another task to my list.
