Raised in California and transplanted to Utah. Married my college sweetheart from Montana, and we are raising 4 nuggets together. I love all things DIY projects and doing them on a budget. I don’t mind messing up and am ok with the 90/10 rule - nothing is perfect over here and it’s fine by me! Encouraging all ‘wanna-be’ DIYers to just get out there and try it! You will be so glad you did.”
We have loved having engineered vinyl flooring in our living space and helped a friend this week install it into her master bedroom as well. There are so many reasons why it can be a good option for a homeowner and I will explain those as we walk you step by step on how to install engineered vinyl flooring.
When installing engineered vinyl flooring, make sure to use a product that is waterproof and can resist moisture. For this project, I used NOVOcore Q engineered vinyl flooring in the color Verdi. Q stands for QUIET
Quiet rigid construction
Install into any room in the home
Ultimate scratch resistance
East to clean and maintain
Totally waterproof
I absolutely love all of the features in the NOVOcore Q flooring and would recommend them for any flooring project you may need.
First, calculate the room surface prior to installation and add an additional 5-10% of flooring for cutting allowance.
Before installing the new floor, there are some things you need to take into consideration:
Begin by installing the boards from the left side of the room and work your way up to the right side of the room. Position the planks, snap them in place and use a rubber mallet (never use a hammer) to make sure it firmly locks into place. When using a rubber mallet you’ll want to make sure not to tap too close to the joint edge to prevent any damage to the boards. Use a utility knife to cut planks to the right length by scoring and snapping or you can also use a circular saw.
When you receive your order from NOVOcore, It comes with more detailed installation instructions. Their website has helpful videos which you can find in HERE. If you have not installed engineered vinyl flooring before, I recommend watching them to get a good grasp of what to expect!
The final step in this master bedroom transformation is installing the baseboards back and then painting. I added some furniture and finishing touches to make this room look amazing; I absolutely love the way it turned out!
This is a quick and easy project that I know you can do too!
