Raised in California and transplanted to Utah. Married my college sweetheart from Montana, and we are raising 4 nuggets together. I love all things DIY projects and doing them on a budget. I don’t mind messing up and am ok with the 90/10 rule - nothing is perfect over here and it’s fine by me! Encouraging all ‘wanna-be’ DIYers to just get out there and try it! You will be so glad you did.”
Can you really leave after work on Friday, completely unplug for a night, and still be home in time for Saturday plans?

YES—and this week for Weekend Worth It, we escaped to Hotel Park City for a quick one-night getaway. Honestly, we can’t believe we waited this long to stay here.
One of our favorite things we’ve started doing as empty nesters is planning one-night adventures within an hour of home. We leave after work on Friday, completely unplug, and still make it back in time for Saturday plans. It’s become one of our favorite ways to reconnect.
If you’re looking for an easy date getaway or a fun family weekend, save this itinerary!

Park City is just about an hour from home, so we left right after work and headed up into the mountains. That short drive is exactly what makes a one-night getaway like this so doable.
We checked into a beautiful cottage at Hotel Park City, part of the Marriott Autograph Collection.
The highlight of the night? Our private balcony hot tub with mountain views. This is where the unplugging really happens.

Instead of going back out, we ordered room service from Ruth’s Chris. It was the perfect first night—great food without ever having to leave our cottage.

We spent the next day at Utah Olympic Park with the Gold Adventure Pass, which let us do so many activities all with one pass:
After all that adventure, we grabbed lunch at Taste of Thai Utah.
We ended the day with Mochinut donuts right next door. The perfect sweet finish to the trip!

Home!
1. Stay within an hour of home.
Less time driving means more time actually enjoying your getaway.
2. Leave right after work on Friday.
You get a full evening and a full next day, and you’re still back in time for weekend plans.
3. Pick a room that feels like the destination.
A cottage with a private hot tub and mountain views makes night one feel like a real escape.
4. Look for an all-in-one pass.
The Gold Adventure Pass at Utah Olympic Park covers the Alpine Slide, Extreme Tubing Hill, scenic chairlift, ropes courses and more, so you can try a little bit of everything.
5. Unplug!
The whole point is to reconnect, so put the phone away and enjoy the time together.

The mountains, cooler summer weather, amazing food and nonstop adventure reminded us why Park City is one of our favorite Utah destinations.
If you’re looking for an easy date getaway or family weekend, this one is absolutely Weekend Worth It.
