You don’t need two weeks off and a big budget to have the kind of trip you talk about all year…

That is the whole reason we started our Weekend Worth It series. Every Saturday we share a new date idea or a weekend trip, and the rule we hold ourselves to is that it has to actually be doable. A Saturday. A weekend. Something you can put on the calendar for next month instead of “someday.”

These three are some of our favorites so far. One is a single afternoon a couple hours from Salt Lake. One is a stay so strange and beautiful we still talk about it. And one is a full weekend in Montana that ended in the middle of a field that means everything to Mike.

1. Kamas, Utah — A One Day Adventure

I have lived in Utah for 30 years…and somehow never knew this place existed.

This one only takes an afternoon and it is absolutely beautiful from start to finish. It’s perfect for couples, empty nesters, families, or a fun day with friends.

Here’s the itinerary:

Stop by Ballerina Farm Store for road trip snacks. The cheese curds and fresh sourdough bread are our favorites! @ballerinafarmstore

Drive 24 miles east on Mirror Lake Highway. This is the part where you understand why you rented the Slingshot instead of driving your own car.

Pull over at Provo River Falls and spend some time exploring. The river drops over three waterfalls and several beautiful cascades and it really is one of Utah’s hidden gems.

Drop off your Slingshot and head to Midway.

Finish the evening with dinner at Olive Press Cafe, owned by my dear friend Sarah from @thedaintypear. Be sure to save room for the lemon cookies! My cousin Eric is the head chef and one of the most talented people I know. @olivepresscafe

? One thing to know before you book: drivers must be 25 years or older to rent and drive the Slingshot.

And just like that, you’ve planned an unforgettable afternoon.

2. Outpost X — Southern Utah

We’ve never stayed anywhere like this…

Outpost X in southern Utah feels like you’ve landed on another planet. From cave-style villas and futuristic domes to cruising across the desert in sand cruisers, every part of this stay feels like stepping into a sci-fi movie. @outpost.x

Where we stayed: the 2-bedroom Cave Lux. It was the perfect setup for a couple or a family. The domes looked incredible too, and I already know that’s what we’re booking next time.

One of our favorite surprises was having our fridge stocked with delicious, ready-to-make meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s an optional add-on, or you can bring your own food if you prefer. After a day in the desert, not having to figure out dinner was worth every penny.

But the best part? Watching the sunset over the desert and ending the night beneath one of the most incredible star-filled skies we’ve ever seen. It was absolutely breathtaking.

If you’re looking for a weekend that’s completely different from the ordinary, this belongs on your bucket list.

3. Glacier National Park, Montana

The scariest drive we’ve ever done…was also the most beautiful.

Glacier is one of our favorite places in the whole country, and this is how we spent the weekend.

Lunch in Seeley Lake. We started our adventure with lunch at West Bay Burgers before heading into the park. @westbayburgers

Explore Apgar Village. We wandered through and enjoyed the charm of this beautiful lakeside spot.

Ice cream at Eddie’s Mercantile. Grabbed ice cream and soaked in the views of Lake McDonald. @eddiesmercantile

Going-To-The-Sun Road. One of the few places that made us feel terrified and completely in awe at the exact same time. Every turn is absolutely worth it.

Huckleberry Claw at Kyiyo Mercantile. On our way out we made one last stop for their famous Huckleberry Claw, the perfect sweet treat before hitting the road. @kyiyomerc

Visit Mike’s family farm. We ended the weekend with my favorite part of the trip, visiting Mike’s family farm in his hometown. Walking the fields where he grew up and seeing the place that shaped so many of his childhood memories was a reminder that sometimes the best destinations aren’t just beautiful. They’re deeply personal.
