Raised in California and transplanted to Utah. Married my college sweetheart from Montana, and we are raising 4 nuggets together. I love all things DIY projects and doing them on a budget. I don’t mind messing up and am ok with the 90/10 rule - nothing is perfect over here and it’s fine by me! Encouraging all ‘wanna-be’ DIYers to just get out there and try it! You will be so glad you did.”
Who’s ready for Thanksgiving! Let talk some fall decorating ideas! We are headed to my parents house this year in California and I can’t wait – love me some family turkey time. If you are hosting this year, you may feel stressed about spicing up your home. DON’T BE! You can add lots of fun decor and not spend an arm and a leg. Let me show you some ideas that I love.
Since you will need place settings, adding a simple wood charger is very inexpensive and easy to make. I have a few sets on hand that I have made over the years and love rotating them each holiday.
You can read my step by step blog tutorial here on how to create these white ones with a stamped initial and spend only a few dollars! I used a stamp set from Iron Orchid Designs that you can also order here.
You can decorate them in so many ways!
I wrote an entire blog post on some simple ideas of how to decorate a table. There are some many ways to add come character to your table. Read all about it here. I loved using Floral Treasure Wheat Stacks for this – you can find those here.
Remember there is no right or wrong way to set a table. Do what feels good to you – you are the one who gets to enjoy it!
I feel like it’s tradition to have name cards. I remember making homemade turkey ones out of toothpicks and gumdrops when I was a girl. This year I used some custom made ones from Paper Case Studio that are so darling. You can find them here.
I have a white mantel that I like to change with the seasons. It is a smaller space and so I do not add too many decorations. I like to make it up as I go!
Here I kept it very, very simple. I used this beautiful sign from Craft Me Up Decor that you can order here. I love her work!
Later in the season I decided to add a few more pieces to the mantel. I added the wheat stacks from Floral Treasure and then some darling buffalo check napkins from Returning Grace that you can order here.
To get more ideas you can read my blog post about this step by step process right here.
It is fun to welcome your guests with a porch set up that gets them into the season. I worked a few simple things to add character to mine. It doesn’t take a lot of work or money to add some fun elements to your space.
You can read all about the process here (including just turning old pillows around to show off their simple backsides!). I used another sign by Craft Me Up Decor and this one will stay here all year round. I love the comment STAY AWHILE, it’s perfect for the porch. You can order the sign here.
I also love a fun welcome mat. This one I snagged from and I love it! Layered with some other mat’s and it was perfect. Order yours here from The Cheeky Doormat.
Finally, the new rug that I AM IN LOVE WITH is on sale right now!! The 5.3 feet by 7.3 feet is only $59!! Head over to Well Woven Rugs here to snag this deal. I love my Mora Ivory – adds the perfect touch this season.
I hope you got some ideas and some resources to help you in your Thanksgiving decorating! I would love to see what you each come up with!
Love,
