Raised in California and transplanted to Utah. Married my college sweetheart from Montana, and we are raising 4 nuggets together. I love all things DIY projects and doing them on a budget. I don’t mind messing up and am ok with the 90/10 rule - nothing is perfect over here and it’s fine by me! Encouraging all ‘wanna-be’ DIYers to just get out there and try it! You will be so glad you did.”
Often after DIY projects you are left with scraps of wood that you aren’t sure what to do with. Well, I have a fun solution for you! Wood chargers are similar to a placemat and are one of my favorite ways to decorate a table, and making them is super easy. First let me share a few posts I have written on how to decorate wood chargers, to give some fun ideas.

There is a few ways to make wood chargers. The simpliest way is to purchase a 10 foot long 12 inch pine board and have them cut at The Home Depot at the Cutting Center in 14 inches long sections. Not sure how to use the Cutting Center? Read how easy it is right here (yep I wrote a blog post about it).
Another way is to use 1×6 boards cut into 14 inch pieces and mount them together with a Kreg Jig (you can read how to use one here). But today I am going to show you how easy it is to use GLUE to make your boards. I used Krazy Glue Fast Dry Wood Glue and these things were done in minutes.
Grab your scrap wood pieces and cut pieces to create a 12×12 inch or 12×14 inch square. You can use many different sizes of scrap wood. I usually have 1×4 or 1×6 or 1×8 boards laying around.
Add a line of the Krazy Glue Fast Dry Wood Glue along the edges and hold tight for 1 minute. This glue will set in 6 minutes. And it’s strong!
After that you can sand down and stain or paint however you would like to create a your look. My favorite is to add a round jute placemat!
You can get so creative with these chargers and how to decorate with them. They add a wonderful element to your tablesettings.
Love,
Kelly
