Raised in California and transplanted to Utah. Married my college sweetheart from Montana, and we are raising 4 nuggets together. I love all things DIY projects and doing them on a budget. I don’t mind messing up and am ok with the 90/10 rule - nothing is perfect over here and it’s fine by me! Encouraging all ‘wanna-be’ DIYers to just get out there and try it! You will be so glad you did.”
Need a simple porch refresh? I recently completed mine for the summer and I did it on a small budget in just an afternoon. I am partnering with Walmart to show how easy it is to update your patio space in just a few simple steps! Their Walmart Home line has so many beautiful pieces to pick from, so let’s chat about simple patio ideas to create on a budget.
My back porch was extended last year and has just enough space for a chair and table. Adding a seating area to a small porch is a great way for me to utilize the porch for the summer.
Creating a usable space that is inviting and comfortable is super easy with some of the newest decor pieces from Walmart. I went online, found things I liked, picked them up in the store and recreated this space in just an afternoon. It was a really easy facelift for this area.
Start with finding a rug that adds a pop of color for the summer. This beautiful palm leaf rug was only $49 and is an indoor/outdoor rug – perfect for outside. You can grab it here. I wanted a bright and cheery look to contrast the dark decking and this rug provided it perfectly.
Egg chairs are super popular right now and look amazing outside. Not only are they extremely comfortable, their wicker casing provides some shade with a slight cooling effect. Walmart has adult and children sizes. For this space I used the adult size Better Homes and Gardens Egg Chair and I absolutely love it.
You can really add character to a space with a few pillows. Walmart has fun bright colors for the summer and I snagged a few ones I loved. Anyone else digging yellow too?! Grab the two pack here and the striped pillow here.
Adding greenery to an outdoor space can really help create a fresh look. You can use real or faux plants. I am sharing two different options, both plants from Walmart, that look great with this rug and egg chair.
The first is a faux fiddle leaf tree that requires little attention, you can grab it here. Then I tried a snake plant that requires water but minimal care. They grow tall and look awesome in a galvanized steel bucket. Order that here.
Making sure you have a spot to place your drinks in a hot afternoon is important! Have you ever considered using a pot as a base for your drink tray? I grabbed one to try and and I love the way it looked. I also appreciate that I can use it for a plant when I am ready. This is a great way to wrap up your patio space.
Refreshing your patio doesn’t have to break the bank or take tons of time. As you use these simple steps to create your outdoor oasis, you will see how easy it can be. Walmart has so many online and in-store options that I know you will love and I hope these simple patio ideas on a budget help you!
