Raised in California and transplanted to Utah. Married my college sweetheart from Montana, and we are raising 4 nuggets together. I love all things DIY projects and doing them on a budget. I don’t mind messing up and am ok with the 90/10 rule - nothing is perfect over here and it’s fine by me! Encouraging all ‘wanna-be’ DIYers to just get out there and try it! You will be so glad you did.”
Creating a beautiful front porch flower garden is a great way to add color and life to your outdoor space. With the right soil, your flowers will thrive and bloom all season long. I am partnering with Walmart to share some simple steps to creating this space, using Whitney Farms Soil and flowers sold exclusively at Walmart.
Whitney Farms Soil is made from natural and organic ingredients, making it safe for your plants and the environment. It’s also enriched with essential nutrients that will help your flowers grow strong and healthy. I love this stuff!

My front flower garden is just seeing the sun for the first time in many winter months and it needed some help. I love ripping all out all the weeds and getting it ready for Mother’s Day each year. Here is a list to get you started on what to grab at Walmart:
To start your flower garden, choose a sunny spot in your yard and prepare the soil by removing any weeds or debris. Then, mix in Whitney Farms Soil to give your flowers the best possible start. For my space I needed two bags of the raised bed mix for my dirt to be replenished.
Next, choose your favorite flowers and plant them according to their specific needs. Some flowers, like petunias and marigolds, prefer full sun, while others, like impatiens and begonias, prefer partial shade. I decided on all full sun perennials.
I also created a potted plant with a fern and some vines for growth. Water your flowers regularly and fertilize them with Whitney Farms Organic Plant Food to keep them healthy and blooming all season long.
I love how it turned out and it only took me an afternoon. This is such a simple way to create a beautiful front porch flower garden. Next up is the backyard garden!
