When springtime rolls around I start to get the itch for freshness, and new linens for my bedroom is always a must. It helps me get excited for sunshine and feels like a new start. I am excited to share this master bedroom refresh with you today.
I love comfy sheets and always try to find soft ones that are 100% cotton and will fit my deep mattress. I ordered some from California Design Den and I loved them. They were a great price point and had very deep pockets, which was perfect. You can find them here.
I washed them and got them all fitted. I ordered the straight white set for a King bed. They are Pure Natural 100% Cotton and fade resistant. This helps us to stay cool while we sleep.
I also added a small spring bench to the foot of my bed from Kirkland’s. This is one of my favorite home decor stores and I loved the new spring line they launched. The bench is called the Blue Striped Bench with Rope-Wrapped Legs.
Once the sheets arrived and were fitted, I realized I would like a lighter quilt for the spring as well. The creme one was beautiful but pretty heavy. I asked around and a girlfriend told me about the company Kasentex. She loved how lightweight and soft her set was when it arrived.

Oh how I love Board and Batten Walls! My very first attempt was on my 40th birthday – all I wanted was to learn how to use a nail gun from Mr. Farmboy. I felt so empowered after that day and a woodworking “She-Ra” was released. Later on, I completed a full Board and Batten Wall in my son’s room – all by myself. You can read all about here – it was an exciting project for me.
So, today I am back at it and partnering with @ZirconTools to bring you a super simple DIY tutorial on how to make a Board and Batten Halfway Wall. Yes, I made up that title! Mr. Farmboy came up with the idea of only going up three-fourth the way up the wall and I loved it – hence this project was born.
Check out these before and after photos and watch my full DIY Youtube Tutorial here. Now come follow along and learn how to do this easy project that anyone can do!
I love all these farmhouse signs being sold right now – they are so beautiful! I had this vacant wall that needed filling and I was too impatient to order one and wait… Do you ever get that way? When you want something decorated and you want it done NOW! So I racked my brain with what materials I had and came up with this. And I love it. It’s not perfect, has some wrinkles and mismatched wood – but for my farmhouse room I was redecorating it was just right for me.
So if you love farmhouse signs and want to make your own – you can do it! The best part is this whole project will cost you under $15 – for a huge sign. Ready to see how?

I am always on the hunt for any possible solution to refinish furniture without sanding – anybody with me?! I launched into Google to see what new ideas came to my mind, and I came across Country Chic Paint and fell in love. Lets face it – I was sold just on their name. But as I read their blog I was smitten by their drive for environmental safe & VOC free paints – with their lab results to prove it!
VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) are gases that are released into the air from ordinary products such as paint, cleaning products, furniture, flooring, and cosmetics. They can produce short term health effects, with additional long term affect research still taking place.
Plane and simple? I don’t want my headboard contaminated with anything funky. So, needless to say, I couldn’t wait for my shipment to arrive.
Here is my 60 second video tutorial on my headboard project using Country Chic Paint. Then stick around and check out all the details behind this amazing stuff!
