Designing a Haven

Sometimes home decor can become overwhelming and intimidating.  If you haven’t had a background in the design field you might feel like you don’t have a place in the decorating world.  This is how I felt!  I knew I could build something, but to make it look super cute really gave me the scary feels.

Recently I finished reading the book “Designing a Life: From House to Haven.”  I was so grateful for the inspiration that was shared because it gave me confidence that I CAN DECORATE!  We are all capable and possess creativity that allows us to decorate our space.  We just need a few tips to get us started.

That is why today I am sharing Sarah Symonds from Grace In My Space blog.  She is the author of this amazing book and an inspirational decorator and believer.  Her home is simple, uplifting, and a haven for her family.  That is what she teaches all of her readers to shoot for.

The read is a quick one and she gives you step by step ways to create and define your space.  Then you can hop onto her blog and see so many ideas of what she has done to uplift her own home.

Something else I love about Sarah is that she is so personable.  She has created this tribe where you feel comfortable and at ease, like a dear friend at lunch.  I wish sometimes I lived closer so we actually could do lunch!

Her family is very important to her and she is her faith.  I appreciate how well she is able to intertwine family, faith and home so well on her blog.  From rooms to recipes to her Monday Musings, I always leave feeling inspired.

I hope you enjoy getting to know this amazing designer and influencer.  She will teach you and support you along the way of your own design journey.  I hope you snag her inexpensive book on Amazon, I know it will help you as your begin to decorate!

Happy Friday,

Simple and Classy Designs

One of the designers that has inspired me since I started this home decor journey is Karan with Inside Out Designs from Ontario. She is so creative and has amazing ideas.

Her blog, called Designs By Karan, can be found here. Today I am showcasing her simple and classy designs. Come join me for this tour of My Homegirls House, you will love her!

Her bright white kitchen showcases such captivating pieces. I love how share pairs this farmhouse sink with the neutral wood cabinet.

Additionally she is willing to tackle Do It Yourself Projects, like adding this wood wall to her laundry room. I love how it turned out!

Karan does a wonderful job adding classy fall inspiration to her master bedroom here. Her vision created a space that is peaceful and uplifting. Ready to meet her? Here we go! This is her bio that can be found here.

Something else I love about her and her website is that she offers E-Design services for this who live far away. How cool is that?

She gives tons of ideas for her clients as well as her readers when they are ready to make purchases. Check out her links and ideas here.

She even sneaks a few amazing recipes in on the blog just because she can! Who wouldn’t want to make these? Her talents far surpass home decor and we are lucky to have such a mentor in our community.

Styling your home requires creativity and bold choices. Often we stay conservative in change to prevent mistakes. But you can learn what you like through your bravery in your choices. Even if mistakes happen. I challenge you to take some of the ideas that Karan shares on her blog and make bolds moves – you can do it!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Kelly

Follow Friday Feature

Over the next few Fridays, as we head into the holidays, I will be featuring some bloggers that really inspire me and boost my creativity while decorating my home.  I know as you follow along you will find inspiration that helps you to uplift your space and your family!

To kick things off I am sharing one of the very first bloggers I ever met when starting this journey.  I actually won a giveaway hosted by her in the spring of 2017 and I fell in love with her account.  Of course I creeped on her page ever since then and I feel so lucky that we have now become friends along the way.
