A client asked us to create a towel rack for her using plumbers pipe.  It was a super simple project and paired perfectly with the Plumbers Pipe Toilet Paper Holder that we additionally built them (click on title to see that blog post).

Here is our 60 second video tutorial of the project, with lots of details following!

 

Supplies Needed

• 3 six inch long plumbers pipe (nipple) at 3/4 inch thick
• 2 3/4 inch flanges
• 4 3/4 inch end cap
• 6 3/4 inch street elbow
• 4 3/4 inch T fitting
• 6 one inch long plumbers pipe at 3/4 inch thick
• Acetone (for cleaning)
• Cottonballs
• 8 anchors and screws for install

Tools Needed

• Hand Drill – I use my 18 Volt Ridgid Cordless

Step One – Cleaning Your Pipe

This is the hardest part of the whole process.  Well, not necessarily hard, but time consuming.  I wrote a whole blog post about how to best clean your plumbers pipe here.  Basically you are using Acetone and cotton swaps to wipe it down and take all the grease off the piping.  I wrote about it all using photos below – you are welcome!

 

Step Two – Assembly

Set up your pipes in the right order.  Wear gloves to help protect your cute your hands!  This is what it looks like:

Start with the left flange and attach – working your way to the right.  Tighten as you go but not sealed.  You will want a little wiggle room to make adjustments as needed.  At the end you can tighten the pipes as needed.

Your end pieces can be fitted one of two ways:

Step Three – Enjoy Your Project

You will mount your towel rack in the STUDS or use anchors.  Use your stud finder to find the best placement.
