Raised in California and transplanted to Utah. Married my college sweetheart from Montana, and we are raising 4 nuggets together. I love all things DIY projects and doing them on a budget. I don’t mind messing up and am ok with the 90/10 rule - nothing is perfect over here and it’s fine by me! Encouraging all ‘wanna-be’ DIYers to just get out there and try it! You will be so glad you did.”

A client asked us to create a towel rack for her using plumbers pipe. It was a super simple project and paired perfectly with the Plumbers Pipe Toilet Paper Holder that we additionally built them (click on title to see that blog post).
Here is our 60 second video tutorial of the project, with lots of details following!

Supplies Needed
Tools Needed
This is the hardest part of the whole process. Well, not necessarily hard, but time consuming. I wrote a whole blog post about how to best clean your plumbers pipe here. Basically you are using Acetone and cotton swaps to wipe it down and take all the grease off the piping. I wrote about it all using photos below – you are welcome!

Set up your pipes in the right order. Wear gloves to help protect your cute your hands! This is what it looks like:
Start with the left flange and attach – working your way to the right. Tighten as you go but not sealed. You will want a little wiggle room to make adjustments as needed. At the end you can tighten the pipes as needed.
Your end pieces can be fitted one of two ways:
You will mount your towel rack in the STUDS or use anchors. Use your stud finder to find the best placement.
This is what ours looks like!

Let us know how your’s turns out!

[…] Do It Yourself Plumbers Pipe Towel Rack […]
Hi, I am Duppie from South Africa. I want to do similar projects but have a problem. The only flanges I can find are chromed. Do you use the same and remove the chrome in some or other way, or do you use galvanised flanges?
Hello! I am so glad you are here! The ones I used are galvanized and I have to remove the oil from them. I know The Home Depot is starting to sell them in decor form so they aren’t oily. You can find them on Amazon too, do they ship to your address? I can help find links if you need!
